ALS Education and Support Group

Who:
All people with ALS, their friends and family are welcome to attend the support group meetings. There are facilitators from Occupational Therapy, the Neurology Department, and from Clinical Psychology.

What:
The purpose of the support group is to provide a safe and comfortable environment for asking questions and to learn. Learning can occur from hearing other people discuss their disease and how they have adapted, from the medical staff members, and from the variety of guest speakers. Topics range from insurance and finances to nutrition to therapies to equipment. The group is an informal gathering and new faces are welcomed.

When:
The second Tuesdays of each month. Group starts at 12:30 p.m. and finishes at 2:30 p.m.

Where:
The conference room in the Neurology Department at the University of Minnesota. The Neurology Department is located in the Phillips Wangensteen Building (12th Floor, Room 12-109) 516 Delaware Street Southeast, Minneapolis.

Cost:
There is no fee for attending the support group.

Parking:
There is limited handicap parking directly in front of the Phillips Wangensteen Building. We suggest parking in the patient visitor ramp located on Delaware Street. Bring your parking ticket to support group to be validated. Validation will reduce the parking rate to $1.00 per hour.
